What-Er We Drinking
Project Description: For this project our group was tasked with confronting a challenge surrounding water. We were given a large degree of freedom and allowed to choose what our project would be concerned with. The problem that our team decided to tackle was the issue of having to create infrastructure for both electricity and water. To combat this we developed the idea of creating a dam that produced both resources and made a primitive design for it as well. However, our data surrounded around how clean the process of converting water to steam and then back to a liquid state was.
Concepts:
- Solution- a liquid mixture of two different materials, example from project: dirt and water
- Solvent- the liquid that dissolves the solute, example from project: water
- Solute- what is being dissolved in the liquid mixture, example from project: dirt
- Evaporation- the process that water turns into water vapor, example from project: steam created from boiling water
- pH- a scale that determines how basic or acidic a liquid from 1 to 14 (low is acidic & high is basic), example from project: purified water is a 7 (neutral)
- State of matter- the form that a substance takes (solid, liquid, gas, plasma), example from project: steam is a gas
